WHY?

As of the school year 2018-2019, I have joined the English Learner in the Mainstream (ELM) initiative and committed to providing coaching and professional development sessions (PDs) in my building to prepare all teachers to work effectively with English learners. Through this opportunity, I have answered questions from classroom teachers and shared resources and strategies to support overall language development in the mainstream classrooms. As I reflected on how to best support my peers, a website presented itself as an effective platform to centralize key information and make it more easily accessible to the classroom teachers in our building to help them build their understanding of the impact of academic language on learning and their overall linguistic competency. These tools and resources support the programs we offer and the learners we serve.
